Before becoming certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Kilmer was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopedics at the University of Rochester.

Hands on orthopedic experience.

Dr. Nicholas Kilmer may be the newest faculty member to UMI, but is certainly not new to medicine. Before becoming certified by the American Board of Radiology, he was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopedics at the University of Rochester. He held the positions of Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship as well as Director of Procedural Medicine for the Highland Family Medicine Residency and an Urgent Care Physician for Lifetime Health. Prior to moving to Rochester N.Y. he was Faculty at South West Georgia Family Medicine Residency Program and a Staff Physician at Bowling Green State University.

Before completing his MRI Fellowship in MRI at University Medical Imaging, Dr. Kilmer’s educational background includes: McGill University, Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, Pennsylvania State University, University of Maryland and Rochester General Hospital.

With his experience in orthopedics, he has had several publications such as “Bladder Problems in Athletes, Current Sports Medicine Reports”, “Guide to Available and Emerging Diagnostic Imaging techniques”, and “Mechanical Modulation of Vertebral Growth, Implications for Scoliosis Progression.” In addition to his publications, Dr. Kilmer has co-written numerous research papers. He also presented a poster at the Program Directors Workshop in Kansas City, capturing a 1 st place winning award in the Improving Training and Practice Quality Category titled “Attitudes Towards Family Medicine: Impact of Two Upstream Recruiting Programs.”
