MRI Fellowships at UMI
In keeping with that emphasis and with our close affiliation with the world-renowned University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, we grant fellowship positions each year to talented and highly qualified men and women for the purpose of broadening their skills and providing our referring physicians and patients with the most innovative and current diagnostic perspectives available.
Dr. Hollenberg is Director of the Advanced MRI Fellowship Training Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The Fellowship Program has trained 46 Fellows from all over the United States since 1999.
MRI Fellowship Offers
A one-year MRI fellowship program at University Medical Imaging (UMI), the outpatient imaging center of the University of Rochester, will begin in July of every year. Four fellowship positions are offered per year.
More than 21,000 MR exams are conducted at UMI annually, using two 1.5 Tesla and three 3 Tesla High-Definition state of the art echoplanar magnets. This fellowship offers advanced training in MRI of the central and peripheral nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and body, as well as MRA of the central nervous system, body, and extremities. UMI is also the leading MRI prostate imaging center in the region. Fellows will receive an excellent clinical experience from four full-time faculty who are Neuroradiologists with Certificates of Added Qualification and other full-time faculty with advanced fellowship training in Cross-sectional and Musculoskeletal Imaging. Candidates must be ABR-eligible or certified and have a New York license.

Dr. Weinberg specializes in Cross-Sectional Imaging in MRI, CT and Ultrasound. His in-depth knowledge of these sub-specialty areas results in a higher level of accuracy and care.
David A. Shrier, M.D.
Dr. Shrier has been published in many leading peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has collaborated in a number of clinical trials. His current research includes exploring new techniques in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA).
Dr. Hollenberg specializes in Body and Musculoskeletal MRI and Cross-Sectional Imaging. He is a Professor of Radiology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, with 16 years of experience in his field.
To Dr. Zynda-Weiss, the imaging sciences bring together anatomy and pathology to answer her patient's most critical questions. It is this process of discovery, of uncovering solutions to problems that inspired her to become a radiologist.
Peter Rosella, M.D.
Dr. Peter Rosella gained a personal understanding of disease management when a family member contracted a severe illness. He brings that experience with him to UMI with patient-centered, empathetic medical care.

Dr. Bernstein's broad experience includes being on the radiology staff at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center in Utica, NY, SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, and at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY.

NICHOLAS I. KILMER,
Dr. Nicholas Kilmer may be the newest faculty member to UMI, but is certainly not new to medicine. Before becoming certified by the American Board of Radiology, he was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopedics at the University of Rochester.
