UMI is an ACR Accredited Facility in MRI, CT and Ultrasound.

What does it mean to be Accredited by the ACR?

The American College of Radiology (ACR) awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. All findings are reported to the practice via a comprehensive report that includes recommendations for improvement.

UMI Brings Comfort and Convenience

Your physician trusts University Medical Imaging to provide the most accurate and reliable radiologic imaging. But we must earn your trust, as well.

We at UMI understand that our imaging services, while often necessary for your treatment to be successful, can be accompanied by stress and concern on your part. That’s why we are committed to making our patients feel safe and cared for, and to make your imaging experience comfortable and convenient.

HERE IS HOW WE WORK EVERY DAY TO HONOR THAT COMMITMENT TO YOU:

  • Our skilled nurses have considerable experience with addressing and easing patient concerns. Along with facilitating the exam itself, a primary responsibility of the nursing staff is to create a relaxed environment for you.
  • To ensure patient comfort and privacy, separate waiting rooms are provided for all exam modalities. Each patient is also provided with a private dressing room.
  • Claustrophobia is a common concern for patients during MRI exams and other tests. If you are prone to this understandable problem, be assured that UMI channels fresh air through our imaging equipment at all times, eliminating this trigger for claustrophobia. We also offer several non-drug options for helping you relax, including guided imagery CDs, local or internet radio stations, prism glasses, blindfolds and in-machine lighting. Music is available for some, but not all procedures.
  • UMI’s central location makes fitting your exam into your day as easy as possible. Our offices at the Clinton Crossings Medical Campus in Brighton are just minutes from convenient expressway exits. (Plenty of free parking is available.)
  • Our extended hours are designed to allow you to arrange a imaging appointment that suits your schedule.
    MRI: 7am – 10pm Monday – Friday, 8am – 3pm Saturday
    CT/Ultrasound/X-ray: 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday
  • Wi-Fi accessible waiting areas.
  • RTS bus drop off right at the front doors of Clinton Crossings Medical Campus Building D.

Imaging: What to expect

Photo ID.jpg

Notice to all patients- Please bring photo ID.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently enacted regulation called the “Red Flags Rule.” This regulation requires businesses (including health care providers) to have policies in place to detect, prevent and mitigate identity theft and respond to potential identity theft concerns (red flags). As a result of this regulation, UMI has created a new policy which requires that the reception staff request photo ID of all patients to verify the identity of the patients and guarantors of insurance coverage.

The varied radiologic modalities performed by UMI each involve different circumstances once you arrive at our facilities, and different preparations before you come in. Please follow the links below to learn more about the exam process that applies to your situation.
